%X A new key of species of <em>Leymus</em> in China is presented which includes 3 sectio-ns 20 species and 2 varieties. Sect. <em>Racemosus</em> comprises 2 species, sect. <em>Leymus</em> comprises 15 species and sect. Anisopyrum comprises 3 species. Among these taxa, sect. <em>Racemosus</em> were described as new. In addition, the geographical distribution of <em>Leymus</em> in China was also reported. According to analysis and statistics, we speculate that the Altai region is the distribution center of <em>Leymus</em> in China.
